Department of Mohini Attam

This dance style was almost forgotten at the turn of the 20th century. Dr. Kanak Rele and Nalanda have played the pioneering role in not only rehabilitating this dance style but, more importantly, in creating technically sound courses of study for beginners as well at the University level. Today at Nalanda Mohini Attam is taught in the same scientific method as the other better established dance styles. The activities are conducted under the guidance of the Board of Advisors comprising of leading scholars and experts.

Department of Human Development

Over the decades one of the chief thrusts of research activities has been towards use of Movement (inclusive of dance) as an adjunct to human WELLNESS.

Some 25 years ago Nalanda research started using specific aspects of this system for therapy used for physically challenged children with gratifying results.Later the same system has been expanded to make it applicable to normal adults as well.

The result of this project is the Post Graduate Diploma in Dance and Fitness at the University of Mumbai.
